HISTORY OF LAKSHADWEEP:

Lakshadweep, which means "a hundred thousand islands" in Sanskrit, is an archipelago off the southwestern coast of India. With a history extending back to the seventh century, it has been impacted by Arab commerce, Portuguese explorers, and, more recently, the British. The islands were subsequently united into the Indian Union in 1956. Lakshadweep is known for its distinct culture, traditional music, and coral atolls, and it continues to amaze visitors with a beautiful tapestry woven from centuries of marine legacy.
